Forevermore and Evermore

Forevermore and Evermore

© 2000 by MitchTulloch

When I remember all your promises

and all the good things that you've done

When I remember how you healed the sick

and how you made the lame to run

When I remember how you raised the dead

and preached the Good News to the poor

Then all I want to do is follow you

   forevermore and evermore

I love you

   because you first loved me

I love your name

it's the name above all names

I love your ways

so full of grace and truth

I love you, Lord

Jesus, I love you

   because you first loved me...

You came to Earth to set your people free

but were rejected by your own

You walked the crowded streets of Galilee

but on the Cross you died alone

You said you'll soon be coming back again

but will the Son of Man find faith?

Lord, all I want to do is follow you

   forevermore and evermore

I love you...

SONG NOTES

This simple "Jesus song" makes effective use of repetition both with the melody and the lyrics, which makes it easy to sing and to commit to memory. When I shared my song with Andy Park some years ago, he responded with "Good solid Biblical lyrics!" and offered some suggestions concerning the melody and chording which I accepted and incorporated into the song.

The chorus can actually be sung with separate men's and women's parts like this:

(men) I love you

(women) because you first loved me

(men) I love your name

(women) it's the name above all names

(men) I love your ways

(women) so full of grace and truth

(together) I love you, Lord

If you decide to sing it like this, you should change the "I" in the third, fifth and seventh lines from an eighth note to a quarter note as it'll sound better that way.
